AI and Data Processing Disclosure
Last updated: 3 September 2026
MyDocVault combines OCR, controlled rules, user-approved learning, and optional AI. The app is designed to retain a useful baseline when no generative AI is available.
Processing options
| Option | Where processing occurs | User choice |
|---|---|---|
| Apple Vision OCR and controlled extraction | On the device | Used for core scanning and analysis. |
| Natural Language/Core ML fallback | On the device | Used when appropriate and supported. |
| Apple Foundation Models | Through Apple’s system model on compatible devices | Used only when the operating system reports the model available. |
| Mac local AI | At the local or LAN endpoint configured by the user | Optional; the user controls the endpoint and model. |
| Third-party cloud AI | At the selected provider | Off by default; requires separate authorization and a user-supplied credential. |
| Apple Private Cloud Compute | Apple’s private cloud service | Used only if implemented, entitled, available, and disclosed in the shipped app. |
What may be processed
Processing may use document text and relevant metadata needed to suggest a document type, destination, context, subject, person, label, filename, dates, amounts, financial year, summary, keywords, tags, reminders, or learned mapping. The app should send only information reasonably needed for the selected task.
Third-party cloud AI controls
- Cloud AI is not enabled merely by accepting the general Terms.
- The user must separately authorize it and supply a supported provider credential.
- Personal, Sensitive, and Highly Sensitive categories are blocked by default.
- An explicit warning is required before overriding a privacy block.
- Provider account terms, retention, regional processing, and charges apply.
- Users can revoke authorization and remove the credential in AI Settings.
Human review
AI and OCR outputs are suggestions, not facts or professional advice. Users should compare important results with the original document. Automatic approval should be enabled only at a threshold and for document families the user considers appropriate.
Model learning
MyDocVault’s user-controlled learning stores mappings, anchors, aliases, extraction rules, document-family choices, and approved examples for future organization. Users can inspect, edit, or delete individual supported learnings and can clear learning data. The app does not represent that these local learnings train Apple’s or a third-party provider’s base model.
